Bob is Everywhere!
I'm cycling through the city and BOB is everywhere.

I see images of Bob bubbling up from underground subversive under-culture to the surface of our urban exteriors in the forms of stencil graffiti, stickers and even murals. The image of J.R. Bob Dobbs, the father of our church and the pure essence of mid-century Pop-art, is invading the “Norms.” It's a relentless swirling attack on what was once considered the Pink part of society. Pinks, homeowners, politicians, rich folk, are too preoccupied with an overwhelming swirl of economic turmoil caused by bodacious "pull the wool over your own eyes" housing balloon blowout and just plain Bush-BS, to notice Bob's face. Nonetheless, there it is!
The iconic ghostly image cameos in the Pee-Wee's Playhouse intro, Spongebob Squarepants' "Ghost Host" episode, the film "The Wizard of Speed and Time", Sublime's 40 oz. CD, various comic books and video games. I had been told that Ivan Stang appears as a character in the novel "Kamus of Kadizar: The Black Hole of Carcosa" by John Shirley. According to WorldCat, FirstSearch, there are over 75 libraries that have "The book of the SubGenius : being the divine wisdom, guidance, and prophecy of J.R. Bob Dobbs" in their permanent collection. There are over 120 libraries that own "Three-fisted tales of "Bob": short stories in the subgenius mythos."
How 'bout that for something to take a gander at?
Some of us are consumed by the images and memories of better times, the reminders of comfort and the retreat to 50's memorabilia. It's a brief escape from the rough realities as the saying goes, "you'll get nothing and like it." Hard times are reflected in our employment stats. The largest significant job losses occurred in California, Florida, Texas (Bob's home turf), Illinois, Michigan, and New York. Yet, the entire country is certainly feeling the back of the glove in these days. With competition for jobs soaring, the employers are hiring more selectively. Purses are getting tighter and never mind that man behind the curtain. Focus your eyes on the lovely photo of the food you are eating and not the grey patty of whatever it might really be. Here's Bob. There's Bob. Gaze upon his mightiness - and OBEY.

Bob!
